Answers to Your Most Common Wound Care Questions
What is mobile wound care?

Mobile wound care involves specialized medical providers traveling to patients’ homes or care facilities to deliver advanced wound treatment.

What types of wounds do you treat?

We treat chronic wounds, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds, venous leg ulcers, and more. Essentially any kind of open wound that is not healing on its own.

Who provides the care during a visit?

Our team includes licensed wound care specialists, such as physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, trained in advanced wound management.

Do I need a referral to receive care?

No! A referral is not required, but we recommend checking with your insurance provider or contacting our office for guidance.

How quickly can I schedule an appointment?

New patients can typically be seen within 2–3 business days of contacting us.

What areas do you serve?

We serve patients throughout the Upstate and Midlands regions of South Carolina, including Greenville, Columbia, and surrounding areas.

Do you work with my doctor?

Yes, we coordinate with your primary care physician and any specialists involved in your care to ensure seamless treatment.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept Medicare, Humana, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, BCBS, and more. Call us to verify your coverage.

What can I expect during a visit?

Our providers arrive within a 2-hour window and assess your wound, provide treatment, and develop a care plan tailored to your needs.

How long does a visit typically take?

Most visits last about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the wound and the treatment required.

What happens if my wound isn’t healing?

If your wound isn’t healing as expected, we’ll adjust your treatment plan and may recommend additional advanced therapies.

Do you work with home health or hospice agencies?

Yes, we collaborate closely with home health and hospice providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.

How often will I need a visit?

The frequency of visits depends on your wound’s condition and your overall treatment plan, which we’ll discuss during your first visit.

What safety precautions do you follow?

Our team adheres to strict infection control protocols to ensure your safety and prevent complications during care.

How do I get started?

Simply contact us via phone or email. We’ll take care of the rest to schedule your first visit promptly.

Are you home health?

No, we are not a home health agency. Advanced Mobile Wound Care is a doctor’s office that comes to your home, providing expert treatment for chronic and complex wounds. Home health agencies, on the other hand, are nursing services that operate under a doctor’s orders and typically provide general wound care, therapy, and other home-based support. While home health nurses play a vital role in patient care, they often do not have the advanced wound care expertise or specialized treatments we offer. Our services complement home health by providing direct physician-led care in your home, ensuring you receive the highest level of treatment without the need for frequent clinic visits.

Is this covered by my insurance?

Yes! Our services are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and many private insurers. Coverage details can vary based on your specific plan, but our team will verify your benefits and work with your insurance provider to ensure you receive the care you need with minimal out-of-pocket costs.

My doctor takes care of me at home. Why do I need you?

We work with your doctor to provide specialized wound care that may not be available through routine home visits. Many primary care physicians and specialists do not perform advanced wound care procedures like debridement, skin substitutes, or NPWT (wound vac therapy). By partnering with us, your doctor ensures you receive the highest level of wound care while they continue managing your overall health.

I have an appointment at the Wound Center, but I can’t get there. How can you help me?

If you’re unable to travel to a Wound Center due to mobility issues, lack of transportation, or other challenges, we bring the wound center to you. Our mobile clinic provides the same level of advanced wound care in the comfort of your home, eliminating the stress of transportation while ensuring continuity of care.

From Home Health: We have a wound care nurse on staff. Why would we need you?

While home health nurses provide essential wound care, they typically follow treatment plans based on a doctor’s orders rather than initiating advanced interventions themselves. At Advanced Mobile Wound Care, we are the doctor’s office that comes to the patient, providing expert evaluations and prescribing the specialized treatments that home health nurses then carry out.

Additionally, we offer advanced wound care services that go beyond what standard home health can provide, such as debridement, biologic dressings, and wound vac therapy. By partnering with us, home health agencies gain access to specialized physician-led treatment plans that accelerate healing, reduce complications, and improve patient outcomes.

Do you cover/leave extra supplies for the patient?

We help patients access wound care supplies through their insurance whenever possible, reducing out-of-pocket costs. While we do not function as a supply company, we work with your insurance and medical suppliers to ensure you receive what you need. If you require immediate dressing changes between visits, we will provide an appropriate supply to bridge the gap.

Do you send the same provider?

Yes! Continuity of care is a priority for us. Whenever possible, we ensure that the same provider follows your case throughout your treatment. This allows for better monitoring of progress, personalized care, and a stronger patient-provider relationship.

Will you see the patient on the same day each week?

We do our best to schedule consistent weekly visits on the same day to provide routine care and reliable scheduling. However, scheduling may vary based on medical necessity, patient needs, and provider availability. If changes are needed, we communicate proactively to ensure seamless care.
